5 Italian words/phrases to use when #MomLife happens

May 13, 2018

I have unexpectedly taken a break during the month of April and somehow missed last month’s DolceVitaBloggers post. Oops. Sorry. This month, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss it because as you can see from the title of the post, it’s a fun one! As I browsed some of the posts written by … More 5 Italian words/phrases to use when #MomLife happens

To you: The Inspirational Woman reading this…

March 14, 2018

Before moving to Italy, I didn’t even know there was an International Women’s Day. It’s not something that’s is actually celebrated in the U.S. So when I saw these weird little yellow pom pom looking flowers I was confused. This flower is a Mimosa? I thought that was a drink? There’s a cake that looks … More To you: The Inspirational Woman reading this…

A love letter to Italy

February 12, 2018

Dear Italy, Do you remember when we first met? When I began to dream of having a life with you? It was April 2004. Our  first night in Rome and it was raining. For some odd reason, I didn’t have my umbrella with me. Instead of packing it in a carryon, I left it in … More A love letter to Italy

The circus came to town!

January 15, 2018

Did you ever go to the circus as a kid? I did. In the States, we had the famous Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Dubbed as ‘THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH’ this was a big deal. Clowns, animals and over priced drink galore but we looked forward to going when we could afford … More The circus came to town!

My Favorite Italian City…

January 9, 2018

Years ago, when someone would ask me that question, I had a much different answer. Picking a favorite city was like asking me which flavor of gelato I like best. I can’t just pick one. However, that was before I made a life here, learned the language and began to find my groove. I completely … More My Favorite Italian City…

Back to School: Italy vs USA school lunch

October 4, 2017

School is back in full swing and I finally have some me time. Last month I wrote about the differences between buying school supplies in Italy vs USA. Today, I want to continue the ‘Back to School’ comparison but this time we’re talking about LUNCH! We’ve all seen those videos of lunches around the world, … More Back to School: Italy vs USA school lunch

Back to school: ITALY vs USA school supplies

September 18, 2017

We’ve just finished our first week of school and the girls are just as excited now as they were on the first day. It’s hard to believe that we now have a second grader, kindergartner, and a pre-kindergartner! Every year that passes, the things I thought were strange have now become normal to me. So … More Back to school: ITALY vs USA school supplies

Pisa through my lens

July 18, 2017

While planning our trip, we decided to take a day trip to Pisa since it’s just an hour away. Because it’s so close, there’s no real problem with taking the kids. One thing I realized is that if you have the option, take a picnic lunch and eat at Piazza dei Miracoli. There are so … More Pisa through my lens

City Gardens: Giardino Vittime di Femminicidio

May 20, 2017

The weather is warming up so that means it time to get back out into the playgrounds again. Earlier this year when I mentioned my goals to do MORE, one of my projects (that I didn’t mention) was to do more video. So instead of doing a post of pictures, here is a video I put … More City Gardens: Giardino Vittime di Femminicidio

City Museums: Museo dell’Automobile

May 8, 2017

FIAT. You hear Fiat, you think Turin… that is if you KNOW cars. Did you know that FIAT actually stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino?   Now you may think that an Automobile museum would be “boring” to the average person BUT.. I’m here to tell you that you’d be surprised by what you may … More City Museums: Museo dell’Automobile

Today is my late mother in law’s birthday. She would have been 81. Wow.. that was weird typing ‘late mother in law’. In honor of her birthday, I wrote a post about her on the blog and share a few memories of her, including when she used a blanket as a diaper for Valentina. 😂 LINK IN BIO.
Monte dei Cappuccini always looks good... day or night.
That time I took a picture of the Moulin Rouge while on a moving bus. This was with B&W film so I had to wait until I got back home and had to develop them before knowing if it came out ok. #backintheday #2004
Today is Father’s day in Italy and we’re so lucky to have this guy as our daddy. It has been a rough month with being sick for 2 weeks, his mother’s death, quarantine and a funeral but we got through it together with laughter, tears and more love. I am so happy he’s mine. Ti vogliamo un mondo di bene. 😘😘
March 17, 1861- A unified Italy was born. It’s hard to imagine that Italy as a country is only 160 years old. Before the unification, the peninsula was made of Kingdoms, Duchies and City-States, all with their own language/dialects and cuisine. This is why Italian cuisine can’t be defined by one dish. This is also why I believe it’s important to remember the dialects spoken in different regions/cities. It’s part of Italy’s history. As part of that history, let’s remember that my beautiful city of Torino was the 1st capital of Italy and the first parliament was held in our gorgeous Palazzo Carignano. (Third foto) Happy 160th Birthday Italy! 🇮🇹
It is with sadness that we say Ciao to Nonna Adelasia. From the moment I walked into her house, she treated me like a daughter. She taught me her recipes and she helped me with my girls. She would always offer to help even when her Dementia got worse. She was funny and we have lots of good memories. Thank you Nonna for everything. We love you and will miss you so much. RIP
