On the Menu: Pasta & Tuna

September 9, 2016

A few months ago, I wrote about my Menu planning process. (you can read about it here) While I haven’t exactly planned out anything this month (hello summer!) I still follow my rules I set up for myself. To make meal planning easier, I designate certain days for certain types of meats/dishes. For example, if … More On the Menu: Pasta & Tuna

Menu planning made simple

May 22, 2016

At the beginning of the year, I had decided that I was going to set a new “goal” (but let’s not call it that) to be more organised, and simplify things. Part of my new routine would include continuing to improve my meal planning. I’ve been planning out my dinners for 2-3 years now and … More Menu planning made simple

How to totally freak out your parents

February 10, 2016

Growing up we always ate a variety of foods… or at least I thought we did. We ate mostly Mexican but we also had our fair share of American comfort foods. Meatloaf, Roast.. things like that. We’d eat fish but usually was fried.. you know.. because TEXAS! As we got older we’d eat less at … More How to totally freak out your parents

Behind the Gram: The Apericena

June 5, 2015

If you’ve been following my Instagram, you’ll know that lately I’ve been posting with the hashtag #italychallenge. I’ve been participating in this challenge which is sponsored by Italy Project 365. A challenge to get us expats and lovers of Italy out of our comforts zones, explore and reconnect the love affair we once had with … More Behind the Gram: The Apericena

How to impress the Italians.

May 31, 2015

If you can’t tell, I love to cook and bake. It’s my thing or at least it was. I considered myself a good cook, everyone told me I was so I believed them. Sweets were my specialty. Cheesecakes, cupcakes & cookies. I used to make them to celebrate my co-workers birthdays. Once we arrived here, … More How to impress the Italians.

Behind the Gram: Fried pizza & veggies

May 24, 2015

I’m trying really hard to get Miss E and Baby C to eat their veggies. Just like most babies, they ate really well until they realized they could say NO. All of my girls were really good eaters until about  14-18 months. That’s whey they all started to refuse most of the veggies. I make … More Behind the Gram: Fried pizza & veggies

It is with sadness that we say Ciao to Nonna Adelasia. From the moment I walked into her house, she treated me like a daughter. She taught me her recipes and she helped me with my girls. She would always offer to help even when her Dementia got worse. She was funny and we have lots of good memories. Thank you Nonna for everything. We love you and will miss you so much. RIP
Have you ever seen a more excited 8 year old?!? Rosie has been looking forward to this day for months. Last year she cried for days when school got postponed over and over again but we’re so grateful that she gets to celebrate with her class this year!
Unicorns really do exist. I know because I have one and today, she’s 9 years old! It’s been a weird year with the pandemic hitting Italy on her birthday and then she got sick. Of course as soon as she got better, we started lockdown which just pushed everything back even more. We almost didn’t make it this year but luckily I got better just in time!
Did anyone celebrate World Nutella Day? It began 14 years ago and I have been celebrating for 12. Truth be told, it’s not as fun since Ferrero took over in 2015. However, I was feeling nostalgic and decided to make up some quick and easy Ricotta cookies with Nutella. Rosie said that the best way to eat @Nutella is by itself. 😂 How do you eat Nutella? #worldnutelladay #nutelladay
On this morning’s walk, I spotted lots of confetti (coriandoli) and streamers on trees (stelle filanti). That means Carnevale is near and while it should be all fun and games for kids, it just reminds me that we are approaching the ONE year mark of life with Covid. 😩 #carnevale2021
Somehow I missed National Pizza Day which was yesterday. How much do I love pizza? Well here are some pizza facts:
