One of my favorite things to do is walk around the city and take the streets less traveled. Avoiding the crowds on busy days or just not wanting to be bothered, taking a side street is the best way to find the places locals love.
Having seen this gelateria before I made a mental note to come back and check it out. L’Essenza del Gelato is quietly located a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of Via Po.
After running a few errands, I made it a point to stop by after lunch one day. I quickly scanned threw the flavors when one in particular caught my eye.

The flavor of principe amedeo sounded too good to pass up. I’m usually not a fan of salted chocolate but that day, I felt bad that I tried a new gelato place without my husband so in honor of him, I chose it along with Tahiti Vanilla. The two flavors complimented each other perfectly and I was actually surprised that the salted chocolate was actually good.
If their Granita is as good as their gelato, then I may be in trouble. How could I pass up the chance to have one when I can get it for as little as 1,50euros!
I wish I could have stayed and tried another flavor because they all sounds amazing. Not just your classics but intriguing ones as well. Their quality was top notch and I highly recommend stopping by anytime!
