Spring is here and the weather has been UH-MA-ZING! Recently, I teamed up with my friends Turin Mamma and Michelle Bottalico Photography for an afternoon out (sans kids!) While our meet up was somewhat blogger business related it was just a perfect excuse to get together and relax.
The last time we were at the Balon, Turin Mamma and I were tempted to try Gelateria Popolare. It was a cold February day so we opted for Hot Chocolate instead. Well, not this time. Even though the weather was a bit chilly, we made our way into the tiny space.
This hole in the wall gelateria has been awarded several times over for their excellence and I’ve gotta say.. They deserve it! After a quick peek at their flavor options, I quickly asked to try their Latte & Menta (Mint & Milk -I’m a sucker for mint!) One taste and I was hooked. It was creamy and the mint was surprisingly light and not over powering. I loved the Fondente (dark chocolate) as it wasn’t too rich or bitter. It was actually a nice balance.
I mentioned this as a hole in the wall because of it’s location. It’s small and could be easily missed if you’re not looking for it. I was a bit surprised when I stepped inside. It’s dark and funky. The yellow walls were not at all expected and I like it! Lots of vintage memorabilia and a fun laid back vibe. The staff were super friendly and didn’t mind all of the photos we took.
If you’re the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a quick treat. You won’t regret it.
