Like many cafes in Turin, Roma già Talmone has been a fixture in the city since the 1800s. Located near Turin’s main train station, Porta Nuova, Roma già Talmone is a prime spot for people watching. No matter the season, Roma is always bustling with patrons wether it be for their gelato or excellent aperitivo. After all, how can you resist a cafe who’s display makes your mouth water…
On a beautiful sunny afternoon, there is nothing more pleasant than enjoying a gelato from Roma già Talmone. Whenever we try a new gelaterie, we tend to stick to the classic flavors so that we can better compare with others. This time around, we chose Pistacchio, Straciatella, and Cioccolato Fondente.
I found the Pistacchio to be light and creamy with just the right level of flavor. The lack of actual pieces of pistacchio was a nice surprise and made it perfect for sharing with a infant. While the straciatella had a nice cream to chocolate ratio, I personally thought the pieces were a bit too large and sometimes made it overwhelming. Lastly, the Cioccolato Fondente is usually my favorite flavor but unfortunately, we both were in agreement that it was a little bitter.
Overall, our experience was great and this is definitely a “must-eat” spot.
