A few weeks ago, I was getting ready for the day when I heard a song from my iTunes playlist and it triggered a craving. I know.. it’s funny. I laugh when I think about it too. I was listening to Alan Jackson’s Chattahoochie and there’s a line in the song that says… “we settled for a burger and a grape snow cone”… and that’s all it took. I went to the store later that day and bought stuff to make cheeseburgers.
For 3 days in a row I ate cheeseburgers and I LOVED IT!
and even better.. Carlo wanted to eat them too!
In fact.. I even had a dream where I was working in a cafeteria making cheeseburgers.. it was weird. Anyway, the cravings have been a lot of fun! Some of them have been normal like cheeseburgers or ranch dressing with buffalo wings and I have only had one strange craving.. and it’s only strange for me. I had invited the Sister Missionaries over for lunch one day and offered them some Blood Red Oranges. They looked so good that after they left… I ate one. Let me tell you that I HATE ORANGES!!! I don’t like to peel them or eat them because of the pulp and they way they feel. I also don’t like to smell oranges on my hands. (although i do like the ‘citrus’ scented cleaners/candles)
These oranges were SO GOOD and I don’t know why this baby wanted them but she must love them because I would eat an orange.. or two EVERY DAY! Once the craving went away, it took a while for me to eat more…. that is until the next craving came along. Since the beginning of this pregnancy, I’ve craved fruit. Peaches, pineapples, apples, kiwi, etc… Now that spring is here and summer is on it’s way.. I’ve got more fruit to crave. I have been eating bananas a lot and now… strawberries are in the markets! Although they’re not in season just yet, but they smell SO good! In order to finish the oranges, I decided to make fruit salad and now…. I have to make some EVERY WEEK!
It’s a craving that I am enjoying! I can’t get enough of it and the best thing is…. it’s so good for me! (unlike the cheeseburgers) I guess it’s the secret to having a healthy baby growing in my belly!
